 Day 1

Yangon

Arrive at the Yangon International airport, clear immigration, meet and greet with tour guide and   transfer to hotel,then the tour guide will escort you to the front desk for check-in formalities to get the room key. Drive to visit the busy area of CHINATOWN including a CHINESE TEMPLE. In the early evening, the pavement turns into a NIGHT MARKET selling all kinds of goods. Complete to your extended visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2

Yangon – Bagan

After breakfast transfer to Yangon airport to catch the domestic flight for Bagan. Upon arrival walk through the local NYAUNG U market. Then visit the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan including Shwezigon Pagoda built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine, BU LEI THEE PAGODA, noted for its panoramic view of the area’s numerous monuments and ANANDA TEMPLE with its four magnificent standing Buddha images. In the afternoon you will learn about the manufacturing of Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts and visit a lacquer ware craftsmen’s workshop in nearby MYINKABA village. Later continue to MANUHA TEMPLE, built in Mon style in 1059 and explore the NANBAYA TEMPLE, a unique sandstone monument which according to legends used to be palace site of King Manuha. Complete the day by watching sunset over the majestic Ayeyarwaddy River from a temple top. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3

Bagan – Mount Popa – Bagan

After breakfast drive to MOUNT POPA (1½ hr) an extinct volcano with spectacular views. Its shrine is dedicated to animist spirits known as "nats" and you will have time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak. Drive back to Bagan. In the afternoon a colourfully decorated ox-cart will take you through some of the more off the beaten track temple sites. Experience the traditional way of travelling and transportation still commonly used by the rural people of Myanmar. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.

Day 4

Bagan – Mandalay – Amarapura – Ava – Sagaing

After breakfast transfer to Bagan airport to catch the domestic flight for Mandalay. Upon arrival at Mandalay you go for excursion to AMARAPURA (15 km) to visit Mahagandayon Monastery where more than thousand monks live and study. If time permits you will have the opportunity to observe the monks having their last meal of the day in total silence. Continue to the 200-year-old U BEIN teak bridge built in 1782 during the era when Amarapura was the Royal capital. Already from the early days the city was known for silk and cotton weaving. Visit a traditional hand-woven silk workshop before proceeding to BAGAYA MONASTERY, a compound with a superb collection of Buddha statues. Afternoon embark for a short boat ride over a river and start exploring the former Royal Capital INWA (AVA) by horse cart. Visit NANMYINT WATCH TOWER, the remains of the ancient palace building also known as “the leaning tower of Ava“; MAHA AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, built of brick and stucco; BARGAYAR MONASTERY, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts then continue to SAGAING HILLS, a retreat for Buddhist devotees for sunset. Dinner &overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5

Mandalay – Mingun – Mandalay 

After breakfast drive to the previous capital of Myanmar and proceed for a boat trip on the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun about (11 km/1 hr) upriver from Mandalay. Visit one of the world’s largest bells, the 90 ton weighing Mingun Bell; Hsinbyume Paya and the unfinished Mingun Paya, which was meant to become the largest stupa in Myanmar constructed by King Bodaw Paya. Return to Mandalay. Upon arrival in Mandalay you will experience the sights and sounds of Mandalay. The SHWE INBIN MONASTERY; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and the KUTHODAW PAGODA the world’s largest book made of marble. Visit also one of the most revered religious monuments in Myanmar, the MAHAMUNI PAGODA. Mandalay is also a major arts and crafts center. Visit to Kalaga Tapestry Craftsmen’s shop before proceeding to Mandalay Hill for sunset viewing. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.

Day 6

Mandalay – Heho – Inle Lake

After breakfast transfer to Mandalay airport to catch the domestic flight for Heho. Upon arrival at Heho drive to NYAUNG SHWE (32 km/1 hr) and transfer to your hotel by boat. A full day excursion by boat on the Inle Lake. See the famous Inntha leg rowers, floating gardens, local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. You will visit the PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA, one of the most sacred shrines in Myanmar, dating back to the 18th century. Proceed to NGA PHE KYAUNG MONASTERY with an impressive collection of antique Buddha images; the weaving village of INPAWKHON and one of the local markets in the Inle Lake region (on market days only). Drive back to hotel. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.

Day 7

 

Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon

After breakfast transfer to airport to catch the domestic flight for Yangon. Upon arrival in Yangon visit SULE PAGODA dating back to over 2000 years ago. From there proceed to the magnificent reclining Buddha at CHAUK HTAT GYI. After a photo stop at the KARAWEIK HALL on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake; walk through the BOGYOKE (SCOTT’S) MARKET (closed on Mondays and public holidays) with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores. 

Day 8

Yangon – Departure

After breakfast check out from hotel &  transfer to Yangon International Airport to catch your departure flight for home.
