 Day 1

              Addis Ababa

Arrival in Addis Ababa, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Time permitting, start the city tour in Addis Ababa. The visit includes the National Museum, one of the most important sub- Saharan museums in all of Africa. The museum is home to the fossilized humanoid Lucy, as well as an amazing collection of artifacts, royal items and art. Then we visit the Ethnological Museum, which was the former palace of Haile Selassie. And then we take time in Holy Trinity Cathedral. The Cathedral contains the thrones and the tombs of the emperor and some of the royal family. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 2

 Addis – Bahir Dar

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to hotel to catch the flight for Bahir Dar. Then proceed for half day city tour Bahir Dar. Dinner and overnight stay in Bahir Dar.

Day 3

Bahir Dar

After Breakfast Blue Nile excursion and Half day boat trip excursion on Lake Tana (some of the ancient monasteries that have been built around lake Tana, or on the many islands These includes Dek Stephanos with its priceless collection of icons as well as the remains of several medieval emperors Kebran Gabriel (closed to women) and Ura KidaneMihret with its famous frescoes. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 4

Bahir Dar – Gondar (170km, approximately 3 - 4hours)

Morning drive to Gondar and afternoon visit the town Gondar. (Gondar was the 17 th century capital of Ethiopia and is notable for its medieval castle and churches. The city’s unique imperial compound contains a number of castles built” between 1632 to 1855 by the various emperors who reigned during this period”. These dramatic castles, unlike any other in Africa, display richness in architecture that reveals the Axumite traditions as well as the influence of Arabia, other treasures of Gondar include the 18th century palace of Ras Beit, the Bath of Fasiladas the ruined place of Qusqam, and the church of Debre Birhan Selassiè with its unique murals). Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 5

Gondar – Axum (350km, approximately 8½ - 10hours)

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Axum. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6

Axum

After Breakfast, spend a full day in Axum which is  Ethiopia’s most ancient city, and capital of one of the most glories empires of the past, is one of the most illustrious links in the historic route). The Axumite Empire flourished 3,000 years ago. Its riches can still be pictured as you gaze on the magnificent stale or obelisks, the graves of King Kaleb and king Gebre Meskal, and the legendry Bath of the Queen of Sheba the 16th century cathedral of St. Marry of Zion was probably built on an earlier 4th century church and is the holiest church in Ethiopia in its sanctuary is said to rest the original ark of the covenant. The churches and monasteries of Axum house are richly endowed with icons and some of the historical crowns of ancient emperors). Dinner and overnight stay in Axum.

Day 7

Axum – Mekelle (295km, approximately 6 ½ - 8hours)

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer Mekelle. On the way you will visit Yeha temple and Debre Damo church. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 8

Mekelle – Lalibela (445km, approximately 8 - 9hours)

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Lalibela. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 9

   Lalibela

In the Morning After breakfast you will visit all rock-hewn church of Lalibela (King Lalibela is created with the foundation of the 11 rock hewn churches in the 12th century. One of the world’s most incredible man made creations, they are a lasting monument mans faith in God. These remarkable edifices were carved out of the solid, in a region where the rugged landscape still protects the churches from mass Tourism. The 11 main churches are found in and around the town of Lalibela). Dinner and overnight stay in Lalibela.      

Day 10

Lalibela –Addis by flight – Awash (250km, approximately 4 - 5hours)

After breakfast transfer to airport to catch the flight for Addis Ababa. Transfer to Awash by road. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel.
                

Day 11

     Awash

After Breakfast Leading south down the Rift Valley we turn east at Mojo for Awash and the Afar Region. We pass Lake Beseka and enter the Awash National Park. On arrival we could take a leisurely walk passing through the patch of natural forest at the northern end of Elalaytu hill. On our way, we may encounter a family of warthog, scurrying past with their tails erect like antennae, nervous dik dik, vervet monkeys (particularly around the project buildings) and mongoose. Less frequently seen are Oryx, gerenuk and lesser kudu. There’ll be plenty of birds on the way; you may well see the following species: Black Scrub Robin, Somali Golden Breasted Robin, Nile Valley Sunbird, Lineated Pytilia, Yellow Throated Serin, Sombre Chat and Arabian Bustard. 

 

Day 12

Awash – Addis Ababa (250km, approximately 4 - 5hours)

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Addis Ababa. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 13

Addis Ababa - Departure

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to airport.
